Nordstrom Inc. is closing all of its Canadian shops and chopping 2,500 jobs because it winds down operations within the nation.
The Seattle-based retailer has six Nordstrom and 7 Nordstrom Rack shops in Canada, which will probably be shuttered by late June.
Its e-commerce enterprise will stop operations as we speak.
Nordstrom chief govt Erik Nordstrom says the corporate is exiting Canada as a result of it doesn’t see a sensible path to profitability for the enterprise within the nation.
The wind down is being carried out by means of an order obtained by the Ontario Superior Courtroom of Justice beneath the Firms’ Collectors Association Act.
Nordstrom first introduced plans to broaden to Canada in 2012 and opened its first retailer in Calgary at CF Chinook Centre in September 2014.
